Otters Class

Welcome to the Otters Class Page!

Welcome to Year 1!

Here you will be able to find out all about life as an Otter.

Mrs Harman and Mrs Stevenson are our part-time teachers and Miss Catmull and Mrs Goulding are our Teaching Assistants.

We have lots of fun in our class building up from a steady transition from Reception at the start of the year working towards being more independent learners ready for Year 2.

Our curriculum is fun as well as busy and is supported by some fantastic class trips (including Kew Gardens, Windsor Castle and Guilford Cathedral) and workshops (Queen Victoria and a Jewish Rabbi).

We have daily Maths, English, Guided Reading and phonics lessons.

Some of our topics in History include Queen Victoria, The Gunpowder and Elizabeth 2nd.

In Geography, we go around the UK learning about the 4 countries and major cities.

We regularly visit Downside Common as part of our Outdoor Learning which often links with our Geography and Science topics.

You can find out more about our exciting curriculum by looking at our curriculum overview.

No two days are the same in Otters, and we have great fun sharing our learning journey together as well as being great friends.

Our classroom is bright and welcoming with lots of working walls to support us in our learning.

We are very lucky to have our very own Year 1 outside area where we have a small world collection, a sand and water table.  We have a lovely picnic table where we socialise with our friends, read and take part in group activities.
