Badgers Class

Welcome to the Badgers’ Class Page!

In Badgers, Mrs Koziol and Mrs Fish are our part-time teachers and Mrs Joyce is our teaching assistant.

We have high expectations in Year 2 and we encourage children to become independent learners, teaching them the tools they will need to develop this independence.  We build upon the children’s learning from Year 1 and deepen their thinking and understanding, challenging them along the way.

We have an engaging curriculum that always motivates children to learn. Throughout the year, we go on some exciting educational visits, including to Painshill Park and Guildford Cathedral. We also enjoy participating in workshops in school, linking to our learning in the foundation subjects.

Every day, we have Guided Reading, English and Maths lessons and we practise handwriting and spelling regularly. Our afternoons are filled with exciting topics in Science, History, Geography, RE, PSHE, PE and Outdoor Learning on Downside Common.  In addition, every term, we thoroughly enjoy taking part in Art Days, DT days and Computing Days when we immerse ourselves in these subjects.

The children in Badgers throw themselves into school life and are great role models for the rest of the school in displaying our core values here at St Matthew’s.
