Badgers Class

Welcome to the Badgers’ Class Page!

In Badgers, Mrs Koziol (Monday to Wednesday) and Mrs Fish (Thursday and Friday) are our part-time teachers and Mrs Joyce is our teaching assistant.

We have high expectations in Year 2 and we encourage children to become independent learners, teaching them the tools they will need to develop this independence.  We provide daily opportunities for children to review their learning, retrieving information, before building upon it to deepen their thinking and understanding, whilst challenging them along the way.

We have an engaging curriculum that always motivates children to learn. Throughout the year, we go on some exciting educational visits, including to the Natural History Museum, The National Archives and Guildford Cathedral. We also enjoy participating in workshops in school, linking to our learning in the foundation subjects.

Every day, we have Spelling, Guided Reading, English and Maths lessons and our afternoons are filled with exciting topics in Science, History, Geography, RE, PSHE, PE, Computing, Art and DT.  We regularly visit Downside Common as part of our Outdoor Learning provision within our Geography and Science learning.

The children in Badgers throw themselves into school life and are great role models for the rest of the school in displaying our core values here at St Matthew’s.
